| Desert Sky Software Wins Sandia Award |
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Desert Sky Software, Inc. a Phoenix, AZ provider of web-enabled solutions and developer of the Sandia National Laboratories e-WFO application, was selected to receive the prestigious President's Quality Award - Gold Level for the year 2002. This is the second time in three years that the WFO Federal Agency E-Commerce Proposal Team has won the Gold level award.
Desert Sky Software, Inc., a Valley-based company since 1988, supports Sandia's Work for Others (WFO) and Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) initiatives to track research project activities, funding and expenditures through Web-enabled applications. Sandia also uses Desert Sky Software databases for business applications related to work it conducts on behalf of universities and federal agencies other than the Department of Energy.
Sandia is a multiprogram laboratory operated by Sandia Corporation, a Lockheed Martin Company, for the United States Department of Energy. With main facilities in Albuquerque, N.M., and Livermore, CA., Sandia has major research and development responsibilities in energy and environmental technologies, and economic competitiveness.
The structure of the Malcolm Baldrige National Award Criteria was used to create a "team" award and to reward the application of national quality principles to Sandia programs and projects. The criteria encourage teams and team leaders to identify customer needs and to monitor the quality of goods and services provided to customers based upon that evaluation.
The award ceremony is scheduled for January 15th, 2003. |
